The Cypress Times Life Matters

STUPAK-PITTS AMENDMENT PASSES 240 TO 194!

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List a pro-life advocacy group see a major victory in the passing of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment to the Health Care Bill.

Ms. Dannenfelser, writes:

ROE V WADE AND THE PERSONHOOD AMENDMENT

It has famously been said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” For 36 years pro-life groups and individuals have been fighting to overturn Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision in 1973 that legalized abortion in America. It unleashed a holocaust upon this nation that has claimed nearly 50 million human lives. And the prospect of Roe v Wade being overturned today is as unlikely as it has ever been despite the fact that pro-life (or so-called pro-life) politicians have been elected to the highest offices in the land, despite a handful of pro-life judges being appointed to the bench, including the Supreme Court, and despite the countless time and money pro-life individuals have sacrificed in this war against the unborn. Is it time to quit, to throw in the towel, to go quietly into the night thankful that our mothers chose life? May it never be! Rather, new weapons need to be used in this war on abortion.

PERINATAL HOSPICE: HONORING LIFE FROM THE BEGINNING

Faith Ann Nickisch entered the world on September 17th, 2009. On September 22nd, 2009 she entered Heaven. At 5 months intrauterine Faith Ann was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that took her life six short days after birth. The pain and heartache experienced by her parents, Jennifer and Kevin Nickisch, at the death of their daughter can only be fully appreciated by those who have experienced a similar loss. I confess I have not. Nevertheless, when I came across Faith Ann’s obituary in the paper and read it, my heart bled for the family. Yet, the sadness that swept over my spirit was tempered by the apparent faith this family possesses as evident from the obituary. In part it reads: “It was not sure that Faith would make it through the pregnancy. Through lots of support, prayers and the love of God, we were blessed to not only have a live birth, but five full days with our baby girl. Our lives will forever be changed by such a small life with such a desire to meet us down here. We feel blessed and are all better people because of Faith Ann and God’s kindness to share a little piece of Heaven with us.” (Read the obituary here.)

A GRANDMOTHER'S HEART

I watched with anticipation as the baby inside my daughter began to grow. I counted the days until I would become a grandmother. I was forty-three, all my children were grown and now my oldest daughter was blessing me with my first grandchild. A plethora of emotions took root inside my heart as her belly grew bigger each day. I was excited, overcome with joy, and tense with fear...

REAL LIFE - PT. 1

Many of us struggle to understand how a Christian can sin and still be a new creation...

MOM, ME AND CALVARY

This essay is excerpted from my book, Lessons Along the Journey.

Mom did many things in those years while my sister, Andrea, and I were growing up . . . many things that hurt her more than they ever hurt us. In 1955, when our father deserted us for another woman, single mothers had little recourse to government aid. Welfare, as we know it today, didn’t exist. There were no food stamps, Medicaid, or rent assistance. Mom, an attractive twenty-three-year-old woman, could have packed us off to an orphanage and gone on with her life. Instead, she went to work. Not one job, but two.

Victorious Freedom

John 14:1-3
1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

This life we live to the glory and praise of our God is not in vain. There truly is a ransom for your soul and a reward for enduring all the bitter trials we must… Continue

Scriptures Or Magisterium? - A False Dilemma

By Dr. Denis O'Callaghan

Question: Have you ever wanted to be so sure about something that it stopped you in your tracks? Kind of like a deer staring into the lights of an oncoming vehicle. I am in that sort of predicament. On the one hand I have the Scriptures which I read from on a daily basis and the Spirit of God to lead me. On the other hand I have this Church that basically says, "Just do what I say." I am at a standstill. The one thing that really get to the crux of the whole issue is au… Continue

Simplicity is Not Always Best

Proverbs 27:11-12
11My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me. 12A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Prudent- subtle, shrewd, crafty, sly, sensible
Simple- simplicity, naivete adj. simple, foolish, open-minded

Have you ever been traveling in your car when for no reason you could know in the natural the hair on the back of your neck stands out and you feel some sensation tell… Continue

THE MISSIONARY- Chapter three- part one

3 GOD HAS SPOKEN

Day two-Brad stirred, almost slipping from the edge of his bed, his initial reaction was to search for his missing goggles. A quick probing of his hand, informed him that they had slipped to his upper forehead. Swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, he caught the shotgun before it fell to the floor.

He slid the goggles back into place, immediately closing his eyes at the brilliance of the room, due to the night vision still functioning. With a swift adjustment of the knob… Continue
