Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List a pro-life advocacy group see a major victory in the passing of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment to the Health Care Bill.
Ms. Dannenfelser, writes:
It has famously been said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” For 36 years pro-life groups and individuals have been fighting to overturn Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision in 1973 that legalized abortion in America. It unleashed a holocaust upon this nation that has claimed nearly 50 million human lives. And the prospect of Roe v Wade being overturned today is as unlikely as it has ever been despite the fact that pro-life (or so-called pro-life) politicians have been elected to the highest offices in the land, despite a handful of pro-life judges being appointed to the bench, including the Supreme Court, and despite the countless time and money pro-life individuals have sacrificed in this war against the unborn. Is it time to quit, to throw in the towel, to go quietly into the night thankful that our mothers chose life? May it never be! Rather, new weapons need to be used in this war on abortion.
Faith Ann Nickisch entered the world on September 17th, 2009. On September 22nd, 2009 she entered Heaven. At 5 months intrauterine Faith Ann was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that took her life six short days after birth. The pain and heartache experienced by her parents, Jennifer and Kevin Nickisch, at the death of their daughter can only be fully appreciated by those who have experienced a similar loss. I confess I have not. Nevertheless, when I came across Faith Ann’s obituary in the paper and read it, my heart bled for the family. Yet, the sadness that swept over my spirit was tempered by the apparent faith this family possesses as evident from the obituary. In part it reads: “It was not sure that Faith would make it through the pregnancy. Through lots of support, prayers and the love of God, we were blessed to not only have a live birth, but five full days with our baby girl. Our lives will forever be changed by such a small life with such a desire to meet us down here. We feel blessed and are all better people because of Faith Ann and God’s kindness to share a little piece of Heaven with us.” (Read the obituary here.)
Why do people reject Jesus? That’s a question those of us who truly love and adore Him ask. The first type of person I’m going to spend time writing about is “The Religious Person.”
Why do some in the Church grasp tightly the pre-grace, pre-redemption view of life on earth, even to the point of considering believers as sinful still, maintaining we remain fools, incapable of pleasing our Father? “Sinful” pertains to nature; “capable of sin” to actions. They are not the same thing, and to equate them by labeling a redeemed child of the Father as “still sinful” is to deny the change that takes place when one’s sin is washed clean by Christ’s treasured blood. (Heb. 10:14-18)
I watched with anticipation as the baby inside my daughter began to grow. I counted the days until I would become a grandmother. I was forty-three, all my children were grown and now my oldest daughter was blessing me with my first grandchild. A plethora of emotions took root inside my heart as her belly grew bigger each day. I was excited, overcome with joy, and tense with fear...
