Just as prayer is vital in the life of a Christian and we need to make it the backbone of The Cypress Times newspaper and our Social Network Community. Paul, in his first letter to the Thessalonians, urges them to pray without ceasing (1 Th 5:17). We encourage you, to not only join us in the Prayer Room and pray for The Cypress Times on a regular basis, but also to add your own prayer requests in the Cypress Times Prayer Room. If you would like your prayer need to remain confidential, please feel free to send a message to any of the administrators of the prayer room – Lynne, Brenda, Sandy and Chrissy

One of my favorite quotes, Terry. We say so much more with how we live than with what we say, or how we tell others they should live. God Bless you all for the lively, heartfelt and deeply moving discussion.

And someone posted a reply before I finished my own repy....

Okay. In the fairness of Sherry response, I did a little research.

I looked up the related drugs that have these 'affects'. Admittedly they have different names in Australia but I did discover something that I didn't know. To get a little personal here for a moment, in 1987, I was placed on a similar drug to save my life. I was on it for almost two years... That may sound awful to some of you men but consider this. I had had a complete hysterectomy before they started me on the drug. It was the only drug that would reset, not could, reset my life threatening hormonal imbalance. Another similar drug caused serious allergies that would have only complicated matters.

So, according to the article and the decision of supplying a drug like this, (and some of the men reaction here) is it wrong in all cases? How would we know what cases should have them?

Yes, I know in the situation of out and out decision to abort etc etc... I'm one who is against abortion... another debate for another time. BUT, there are other reasons why these drugs are supplied. And, fr this reason, I do see Sherry's point.

Terry, thank you for that clarification. My scattered brain is on overload right now and I knew that it was a pharmasist and not a doctor. Somehow, I couldn't make the words form articulate well. Please understand that I'm not attacking your article or the words you wrote. We have a difference of opinion and nothing more. As I said, I see both sides and I don't think anyone is wrong or right. I admire your courage to say what needs to be said and stand up for what you believe. You have a big crown waiting for you in heaven for the persecution you have endured. I can't wait to see it. Please take my arguments (or opinions) as they are- coming from an exhausted, heavy laden mama who just needs the Lord to work right now. I appreciate you and and the righteousness that you stand for.

So much for wisdom! Before I finished my statement (as long as it is) I pressed the enter button.

So, let me finish my thought.

I pray for wisdom AND love so that I can share that which the Father has given me, but do it in a way that brings glory, honor, and praise to Him.

John, as far as what we can all do. Perhaps we can begin here: At all times and in all ways preach the Gospel and if we must - use words.

Blessings,

Terry

Sherry,

No rotten tomatoes from me either. Perhaps I can clarify the story a little.

It was a pharmacist that, due to his religious convictions, decided to quit filling birth control prescriptions, not a doctor who refused to prescribe the medication (though I believe doctors have the right to refuse to prescribe something that conflicts with their consciences).

The original newspaper article did mention that birth control pills are sometimes taken for purposes other than birth control as you pointed out. John Lane, the pharmacist at the center of the controversy, knew this and specifically apologized to the women who took the medication for this. That is one reason why John took the steps he did to ensure that women had access to fill their prescriptions.

Because of the way John handled this situation I don't believe he was trying to shove his faith down anyone's throat. If that was his purpose he would have simply quit filling the prescriptions with no advance notice and offering no alternatives for the women and families affected by his decision. But the tone of the women I quoted (and there were multiple dozens of other postings to the article by both men and women) infer they insist on shoving their beliefs down John's throat and anyone else the disagree with. This is the hypocrisy I see.

Also, forcing a pharmacist to fill a prescription his conscience tells him not do under threat of law will not end with birth control. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care providers will face the same threat. Should a doctor be required to prescribe legal doses of narcotics to a patient that lives in a state that has legalized euthanasia? (Montana recently joined that demonic club when Judge Dorothy McCarter by judical fiat ruled Montanans have a right to die with "dignity".) Should a nurse be required to administer these drugs? And on it goes.

On a personal note. I have experienced the love of Christ deeply within my spirit. As the Apostle Paul confessed: I am the foremost of sinners saved by the grace of God, not because of anything good or holy within me, but in SPITE of the evil that lives within me and is ready to show its ugly face all to frequently.

At the same time I grieve over the sin and temptations that the world so gleefully revels in. Yet the Father does not allow me to simply grieve. He has commanded me to speak out at times. And many times I pray, "Father, not this time. I'm tired. I'm tired of being mocked and ridiculed, of being called names and being misunderstood." But when I pray like that the words of the prophet Jeremiah are brought to my mind: "O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me. For whenever I speak, I cry out,
I shout, 'Violence and destruction!' For the word of the Lord has become for me
a reproach and derision all day long. If I say, 'I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name, there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot" (Jer 20:7-9 ESV).

For me this is true. The times I have remained silent (and there is CERTAINLY times that silence is what the Father requires) a fire intensely burns within me. I cannot remain silent.

I am no prophet, just a child of the King who has been granted the awesome privilege of sharing what I believe my heavenly Father has shared with me. Do I do that perfectly all the time? Of course, not. I have found that I have little trouble speaking the truth, but must be constantly vigilant to speak it in love. That's why a pray for wisdom
