Spirit

There dwells in me a tiny light.
A spirit that never dies.
It cannot perish, come the night,
Nor quail beneath stormy skies.

It does grow faint, when I go astray
From the one who has created it;
And I must labor to find a way
to rekindle my weakened spirit.

Oh how my life seems utterly wrong,
When I wander from where it came.
Oh how I suffer, and struggle along,
With only a spark for a flame.

But let this light, this tiny light,
Be fanned by God's great hand;
Then I am given a brief insight,… Continue

Sunset

Triumphantly the sun descends
In a flourish of color and light.
Wrapping its robes around itself,
Blazing beyond my sight.

While wispy tails of orange and red
Trail after the sinking sun,
Quietly, unceremoniously,
The ties of night are undone.

A sable carpet slowly unrolls
From the depths of Eastern skies,
And in between both day and night,
A star appeals my eyes.

All around that shiny star
Is a ribbon of purpling blue,
Then I recall The Saviors words,
"Lo, I am always with you."

A feeling o… Continue

The Miracle of a Moment

High upon this hill, with the heavens draped around me,
I wander in wide wonder at my new found sanctuary.
While the growing glow that shows a new day is born,
Laves its loving light to illuminate the morn;

The brilliant blue fingers of blissful daylight
Push past the penumbera of shadowy night.
Casting its colors across dew dawning skies.
Revealing a ceiling appealing to my eyes.

In reverent relief I release my false fears.
Sailing them solemnly upon salty tears.
Then on this high hill, I so… Continue

The Subtle Rain

There is a subtleness in the soft rain,
Binding my thoughts to contemplative things,
Where my musings walk, but do not complain

About the raindrops dripping on the strings
Of my melancholy, solemn soul.
They walk on wet trails and the water clings

To the trees and the fields, and the grassy knoll
Where I stop and absorb a moist knowing
That the rain comes down to simply extol

Blessings that God is always bestowing
On the unwitting heads of you and I.
His love is like water, always flowing,

He Whispers Goodnight

As day draws in the deepening twilight,
And the Magnificent Maker moves into His throne,
Our Savior will wink, and whisper goodnight.

Drowsy heads begin drooping and drift off in flight,
Waving their wings where angels have flown,
As day draws in the deepening twilight.

Then happily the heavens will hang in our sight,
And from a depthless dome of worlds unknown
Our Savior will wink, and whisper goodnight.

Heavenly Father, looking down from His height,
Sees the lofty and lowly lay themselves p… Continue
